Tile Installation

Surface Preparation

The journey begins with surface preparation. This phase involves cleaning the existing floor and ensuring it's free of debris and imperfections. A key component here is the application of a layer of thin-set mortar, carefully chosen to complement the specific tile material, which provides a stable and level base for the tiles. Latex-modified thin-set is frequently used for ceramic and porcelain tiles, while natural stone may require a different adhesive. Achieving an even and secure substrate is critical for the success of the entire project.

Placement & Layouts

Next, it's time to focus on the arrangement of the tiles. Accurate measurements are taken, and layout lines are drawn to guide the placement of the tiles. The choice of tile material, whether it's porcelain, ceramic, stone, or another option, is crucial, as it should align with the overall design aesthetic and functionality. The actual tile placement demands hard and precise labor, as each tile must be set meticulously to prevent lippage or uneven surfaces. The tiles are firmly embedded into the thin-set mortar, and spacers are used to maintain consistent spacing between them.

Grout Application

Once the tiles are securely set in place and the thin-set has properly cured, the third step is grout application. Grout, a cement-based material, fills the gaps between the tiles and comes in various colors to match or contrast with the tile choice. A rubber float is used to press grout into the spaces while removing any excess. After a short drying period, the surface is wiped clean to attain a polished and finished look.
